Hockey Academy

Please find below an information pack on the Southern United Hockey Academy 2011/2012 from the Club President David Finlayson, and an application form.

Applications for the Southern United Hockey Academy 2011/2012 are due by 14th October 2011 and can either be emailed to secretary@suhc.com.au or posted to:

CPC Health is the official medical support of Southern United Hockey Club.
Anthony Selby will be representing the clinic and available at the club on Tuesday training sessions and home games.

Player’s entitlements:

  • Priority access to the clinic for immediate injury assessment and management
  • Private health insurance rebate charge only (no gap applied)
  • If not covered by private health extras, then a discounted rate of $50 is applied
  • Also offered at the clinic is Podiatry and Massage
  • Training and game day assessment and advise

Injury protocol management for all players:

  1. Match day or training injuries are reported to either Team manager and/or Physio (Anthony Selby)
  2. This is recorded into an injury book (carried by team manager)
  3. Team Coach is made aware of injury
  4. Advised if needs RICE (Rest/Ice/Compression/Elevation) and/or referral onto either doctor or physio
  5. Injury is assessed preferably on Monday at CPC Health (but at least by Tuesday training)
  6. If a player seeks assessment elsewhere - it is their responsibility to notify either the team manager or physio of diagnosis and prognosis
  7. The Coach is notified (phone/e-mail/in person) of diagnosis and prognosis of injury before Tuesday training
  8. If the player is to miss a number of weeks due to injury this must be recorded in the injury book
  9. Player adheres to advice regarding level of training and/or match day management
  10. Fitness test to be performed on Thursday if going on to play on that weekend - if this reproduces symptoms or tightness advice is to be sought
